Cadence Theatre Company Announces CultureWorks Grant
Cadence Theatre Company (CTC) is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a Building Capabilities Focus Area Grant from the CultureWorks Grant Program. The $10,000 grant will be used to expand CTC’s fund development program by providing support for a new, dedicated, fundraising position.
“We are grateful for CultureWorks and their commitment to fostering creativity and conversations in Richmond and beyond. Like Cadence, CultureWorks believes that arts and culture have the power to teach and inspire, to uplift and heal, to truly transform,” says CTC founder and Creative Director Anna Senechal Johnson. “We thank CultureWorks for their confidence and investment in us. This grant furthers their vision of a community where everyone has access to arts and culture.”
Cadence Theatre Company, founded in 2009, works to inspire and transform the Richmond community by presenting contemporary theatrical works that uplift the spirit, challenge the mind, and honor individuality and shared humanity.
In partnership with Virginia Repertory Theatre (Virginia Rep), CTC presents a three-show season that celebrates the world’s most renowned playwrights, composers, and lyricists. CTC is further dedicated to accomplishing its mission by offering a variety of original educational programs and activities that foster inclusion, empathy, and critical dialog across age, gender, and cultural ancestry.
The 2019/2020 Cadence Season at Theatre Gym opens October 26, with 13, a musical by Jason Robert Brown, Dan Elish and Robert Horn, followed by Small Mouth Sounds, by Bess Wohl, March 7, 2020. Cadence and Virginia Rep will wrap-up the season with True West, by Sam Shepard, a 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist. The show will open May 9, 2020.
