Cadence Theatre Company’s Jammin’ in July Musical Theatre Program

News for young musical theatre lovers! Although Cadence Theatre Company, in partnership with SPARC, is disappointed to have to cancel our popular August Adventure camps this summer, we are excited to announce two new theatrical opportunities for youth. Our Jammin’ in July Musical Theatre Program will feature the popular musicals Annie JR. and Disney’s High School Musical JR.

Each cast will rehearse virtually from July 6 to July 24, with in-person, recorded scenes during the weekend of July 25–26 in the black box studio at Richmond Performing Arts Alliance (RPAA), which will allow students to benefit from on-camera training with professional filmmakers. Actors will be given staggered call times for filming between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to allow for physical distancing. Each cast member will receive a video for private home use. *Cadence Theatre Company continues to take the lead from Governor Northam, Mayor Stoney and the CDC. If youth are not able to perform inside of a building by that point without masks, an alternative outdoor venue will be selected.

Video auditions for the musicals are now open. Please prepare 16 to 32 bars from the musical theatre canon with accompaniment (karaoke tracks are fine), and submit by 5:00 p.m. on June 19, 2020, as indicated below.
