KdentsTV Announces Rom-Com “Zoombirds” Screenplay Competition
Cadence Theatre Company & KdentsTV Present The KdentsTV Rom-Com “Zoombirds” Screenplay Competition
Who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy? Rom-Coms make us all feel warm and fuzzy. They’re filled with fun characters, hilarious misunderstandings, awkward dates, adorable dogs, meet-cutes, fashion montages, and plenty more!
This winter, KdentsTV wants to see your Rom-Com screenplays for our inaugural Rom-Com “Zoombirds” Screenplay Competition. Submit your original Rom-Com short script (3-5 pages) and be sure to include one important catch—these dramas must occur on Zoom and be able to be filmed over Zoom!
Here’s how it works:
1) Submit your 3-5 page screenplay by Friday, January 15th
2) Finalists will be notified by Friday, January 22nd
3) Top 5 Finalists will have their films cast and filmed over Zoom on Saturday, Jan 30th.
The five films will then be judged and compete against each other for prizes during our inaugural KdentsTV Rom-Com “Zoombirds” Film Festival (Feb 13th & 14th).
Additional Rules for Submission:
1) 3–5 page script. No film should be longer than five minutes.
2) Story must take place on Zoom and must be able to be filmed over Zoom.
3) Must incorporate the use of at least one Zoom Virtual Background in your script.
4) Must have one sound effect.
Be creative! Use the above rules as a jumping off point for your Rom-Com. The best romantic comedies contrast two quirky, unforgettable characters against each other to create chaos, chemistry, connections, and of course, romance!
Of course, we want your film to give us all the feels, but please, keep the content PG-13. No excessive profanity, violence, or graphic content.
Prizes:
1st Prize: One year subscription to Final Draft Screenwriting Software, a $100 gift card, and your film will be uploaded to the KdentsTV YouTube Channel.
2nd Prize: One year subscription to Final Draft Screenwriting Software, a $50 gift card, and your film will be uploaded to the KdentsTV YouTube Channel.
3rd Prize: One year subscription to Final Draft Screenwriting Software, a $25 gift card, and your film will be uploaded to the KdentsTV YouTube Channel.
Top 5 Finalists will be part of a virtual screening event on Valentine’s Day weekend, Saturday February 13th and Sunday, February 14th.
How to Submit:
Email your screenplay to Katie at ckctcinterns@gmail.com. Be sure to put the title of your movie, and your name in the movie title file.
Submission is FREE! But please submit only one script per filmmaker or filmmaking team.
You must be 18 years old or younger to submit.
