Cadence Cinema Film & TV Announces 2022 Documentary + Mockumentary Film Competition for Emerging Filmmakers

Do you love telling real-life stories? We want to see them! Cadence Cinema Film & TV’s KdentsTV invites you to join us for our Documentary + Mockumentary Film Competition and Festival! Submit your original documentary or mockumentary film to inspire, entertain and change the world. Those 18 years old or younger may submit to the Emerging High School Filmmaker category and those 19 or older may submit for the Emerging Filmmaker category.


Here’s how it works:

1) Submit your short film (1/2 hour or less) by Friday, May 20th.

2) Film finalists will be aired on Cadence's YouTube Channel and social media from Thursday, June 9th through Friday, June 10th, 2022.

3) Winners for each category will be announced on social media Saturday, June 11th.

All films will be judged and compete against each other for prizes.

Additional Rules for Submission:

Emerging High School Filmmakers — We want your film to be ultra-realistic, but please, keep the content PG-13. No excessive profanity, violence, or graphic content.

For Teachers:

Take advantage of these amazing lesson plans, developed to align with Virginia’s Standards of Learning. Classroom teachers that have two or more groups submitting will receive a $100 Amazon gift card and a classroom prize (fog machine, makeup kit or ring light).

Best Documentary: $200 Visa gift card

Best Mockumentary: $200 Visa gift card

Audience Choice (most views and likes on KdentsTV’s YouTube and social media and Cadence's social media between June 9-10, 2022): $200 Visa gift card

How to Submit:

Email your film (MP4 ONLY) to Maggie at mhctcinterns@gmail.com. Be sure to put the title of your movie, indicate if it is documentary or mockumentary, your first initial and last name, and your age category in the file. For example:

"Surfing in Paradise_Documentary_John Doe_Emerging High School” or "Surfing in Paradise_Documentary_John Doe_Emerging Filmmaker”.

Submission is FREE! But please submit only one film per filmmaker or filmmaking team.

Those 18 years old or younger may submit to the Emerging High School Filmmaker category and those 19 or older may submit for the Emerging Filmmaker category.
